The Click.
Without The Mud.
A normal transient shaper works on your whole signal - push the attack and you smear the fundamental with it. 8008 shapes inside a frequency band you choose. Set it above your sub and add 18dB of snap to the click while the low end stays untouched. Hit MONITOR to solo the band you're grabbing. Cut the sustain instead and a long 808 becomes a tight kick in one move.

A musical bell filter locked to 30-150Hz, exactly where sub fundamentals live. Sweep FREQ with a narrow Q until the note jumps out, then widen until the bass just sounds bigger. Up to +18dB when the fundamental needs to dominate. It's the difference between an 808 you hear and an 808 you feel.
Eight Ways
To Wreck It.
One knob, eight hand-coded characters, ordered gentle to extreme. SOFT and ATAN for clean warmth. HARMONIC adds targeted third harmonic so your bass reads on phone speakers. TUBE and DIODE for asymmetric analogue grit. HARD, FOLD and GROWL when it should sound broken on purpose. Drive is gain-compensated, so more drive means more harmonics - not just more volume.
One Knob.
Correct Every Time.
At 40-60Hz one waveform cycle lasts 16-25ms. A compressor attack faster than that stops tracking the envelope and starts chewing the waveform - distortion and pumping, not compression. PUNCH moves threshold, ratio, attack and release together on a curve that physically cannot go wrong on an 808. Makeup is computed from the real maths, set just under full compensation so louder never fools you.
Mono Bass
With No Seam.
Standard mono tools split with a lowpass and a highpass. Those phase-shift differently, so where they meet you get a dip and a smear. 8008 uses one filter - the high band is whatever the lowpass didn't take, so both halves always sum back to exactly your original signal. Mathematically phase-perfect at every setting. Club-ready, vinyl-ready, no artefacts.
Hiss That
Breathes.
Most lo-fi plugins bolt on a constant hiss that's loudest when nothing plays. LEGENDARY modulates its tape hiss with your signal's own envelope - it swells on hits and recedes into silence, like real tape. Add DIGITAL to crush 16 bits down to 3 for early-sampler grit, then use the steep 24dB/oct LPF to tame the aliasing your waveshaper just made.
