The Curve
Is Your Hand.
Eight independent tables play end to end as one continuous routine, and each one is a curve you draw with the mouse. The middle line is the record sitting still. Draw above it and the platter pulls forward; draw below it and it spins back. A sharp spike is a stab, a slow arc is a drag, a tight zig-zag is a scribble. Snap the grid to 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 or 16 divisions so every cut lands on the beat — or switch snapping off and draw it loose and human.

Every table has its own dropdown of 22 hand-modelled turntablist techniques — the real vocabulary, from the first scratch every DJ learns to the ones that take years. Baby, Forward, Stab, Tear for the foundations. Chop, Flare, 2-Click, 3-Click, Crab for fader work. Scribble, Twiddle, Military, Lazer, Chirp when it needs to be fast. Pick one per table and you've built a routine in eight clicks, then drag the points around to make it yours.

The same drawn motion sounds completely different depending on the deck. INFERNO is the big, clean pitch throw with nothing riding on it. DUST is a lazy glide that drags bit-crunch hiss in with it. RATCHET adds the tap-tap-tap transformer chop. SAWBLADE pushes the crab into buzzsaw territory. TREMOR puts a fast wobble on the pitch itself. Switch models and the routine you already built gets a whole new attitude — each with its own animated platter.

This is the part nobody can fake with a sample. SKR8 models the motor itself — the weight of the platter winding down when you kill the power, and the wow as it climbs back up. Stop Time and Start Time set each ramp independently, from a 5 ms slam to a three-second death. Spin Time decides how hard the hand pushes on a backspin — a flick or a full rewind. The deck on screen spins, slows and reverses with the real engine, so you see the brake before you hear it.

Ride it live, or draw it as automation and perform a routine no human hand could hold steady. Every control on the front panel is automatable, so the brake, the backspin and the scratch itself all become part of the arrangement.

One Speed knob, twenty-four musical divisions — from a lazy 8/1 crawl spread across eight bars, out to a frantic 1/64 stutter. Straight, dotted and triplet values are all in there, so a routine can swing as easily as it can march. Change the project tempo and SKR8 follows; it never drifts and never needs re-timing. The Mix knob blends the scratched signal against your dry input, so you can go from a subtle rhythmic wobble to a full cut without a second channel.
